illMilliliter / TG.Atlas: 900%

EP「900%」は、日本で最もアツくイノベーティブ、加えてインテリジェンスと強烈なフィジカルエネルギー結合させたような、コンテンポラリーパンクとエクスペリメンタルロックな2組のバンドがフィーチャーされた作品である。

北海道の旭川を拠点に活動するTG. Atlasは既に3つのアルバムをリリースしており、直近は2018年にImpulse Recordsから発売された「Puzzle City」。彼らの楽曲は、言うならば、エクスペリメンタルロックの伝統ともいえるShellac、The Jesus Lizard、This Heatといったサンディエゴ・ハードコアをミックスしたようなカオスなサウンドだ。さらに、調子外れで歪んだサウンドとリズムが爆発的な暴動を創造している。

2017年12月にCall And Response Recordsからデビューミニアルバム「NEW STANDARD」をリリースした東京カルテットバンド、illMilliliter。TG. Atlasと同様、エクスペリメンタルかつ遊び心溢れるillMilliliter のハードコアサウンドは、今にも爆発しそうなタイトでえぐられるようなリズムと掴みどころのないギターアレンジメントが特徴だ。

The “900%” EP features two of Japan’s most exciting and innovative contemporary punk and experimental rock bands, combining intelligence and intensely physical energy.

Based in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, TG.Atlas have released 3 albums, with the most recent being 2018’s “Puzzle City” on Impulse Records. Mixing the chaotic sounds of San Diego hardcore with an experimental rock tradition that runs through Shellac, The Jesus Lizard and This Heat, creating an explosive riot of discordant, distorted sound and rhythm.

Following the release of their debut mini-album “NEW STANDARD” via Call And Response Records in December 2017, this EP marks Tokyo quartet illMilliliter’s first new recordings. Sharing with TG.Atlas a playful and experimental take on hardcore, illMilliliter’s sound is characterised by tightly wound rhythms and sparse guitar arrangements that explode into life at a moment’s notice.
